Public information, not personal medical advice
These answers explain SNPUA's role and the main product and policy issues. They are public information, not personal medical or legal advice.
About SNPUA
About SNPUA
When and why was the SNPUA founded?
SNPUA was founded in 2018 by snus users who had moved away from smoking. Its mission is to represent adult snus and nicotine pouch users in debates about smoking reduction, harm reduction, and nicotine policy.
What does SNPUA do to represent consumers?
The alliance shares consumer experience, engages policymakers and media, encourages adults to take part in consultations and campaigns, and helps people explain why oral nicotine products matter to them.
Who funds SNPUA?
SNPUA is supported by members and aligned supporters. Funding, partnerships, and member offers are handled transparently, and outside support must not compromise editorial independence.
Snus
Snus
What is snus?
Snus is a moist oral tobacco product, usually supplied in small portions that are placed under the lip. It is different from cigarettes because it is not burned, and different from nicotine pouches because it contains tobacco.
Can snus be sold in the UK?
The supply for sale of oral tobacco is prohibited under UK rules. SNPUA argues that this legal position deserves to be considered alongside evidence and adult consumer experience.
Why is Sweden often mentioned?
Sweden is frequently discussed because snus has been used there for many years and the country's smoking patterns are often compared with other European countries. SNPUA presents Sweden-related claims with source links so readers can explore the evidence.
Nicotine pouches
Nicotine pouches
What are nicotine pouches?
Nicotine pouches are small white pouches that usually contain nicotine but no tobacco leaf. Adults place them under the lip. They should not be confused with tobacco snus.
Why does SNPUA include pouch users?
Many adults who use smoke-free oral nicotine products have similar concerns about access, accurate information, and proportionate regulation.
Are nicotine pouches for adults only?
Yes. SNPUA frames its work around adults aged 18 and over and supports responsible communication that does not target young people.
Policy and regulation
Policy and regulation
What does proportionate regulation mean?
It means regulation should protect young people and consumers while recognising differences between smoking and non-combustible nicotine products.
Why contact MPs?
MPs hear from many organisations, but they also need to hear from constituents with direct experience. Personal, accurate messages help make adult consumers visible in policy discussions.
Does SNPUA give medical advice?
No. The site provides consumer advocacy and public information. People should seek professional advice for personal health questions.

Can I contact SNPUA about media or policy work?
Yes. Use the contact form and choose the relevant reason so the enquiry can be handled clearly.

No. The lookup sends the postcode to the Netlify Function for live MP lookup and the site does not store it.
